Daleys took Chicago for $30,000 ride on 11th and 18th streets
The Chicago Department of Transportation’s $1 million projects at 11th and 18th streets ended up costing $10 million. Then-mayor Richard M. Daley and the 11th Ward Democratic Party Campaign Committee controlled by his brother John collected more than $30,000 in campaign donations from contractors and their employees:

- 01/29/2003 – $500 from Sarah Pang (former Daley aide) of CNA Insurance (liability insurer)
- 02/14/2003 – Chicago Department of Transportation awards $1,225,000 contract for pedestrian underpass at 11th and Columbus Drive and reconstruction of 11th and 18th Street bridges over Metra to H.W. Lochner, Inc.
