Daley administration’s “mistake” doesn’t hold Aqua water
In 2006, Dennis Aukstik and John George, attorneys for the law firm of Daley and George, lobbied Chicago aldermen on behalf of Magellan Development Group, the developer for Aqua at Lakeshore East. Aukstik is the former brother-in-law of William Daley, brother of then-mayor Richard M. Daley, and Michael Daley has been a partner at the family firm for more than 40 years.
That same year, the Daley administration signed a 99-year parking garage contract with Chicago Loop Parking LLC. Last month, arbitrators issued a $57.8 million ruling in favor of the company, which charged that City Hall violated the deal by “mistakenly” allowing a competing garage to be built one block away–in the Aqua at Lakeshore East building.
Victor Reyes’ lobbying clients at City Hall
Former Richard M. Daley aide Victor Reyes remains active in Chicago City Hall, most recently as a lobbyist for JCDecaux Chicago, the company selected in a deal to advertise billboards in the city. Reyes was the chairperson of the Hispanic Democratic Organization, which orchestrated the Chicago Department of Streets and Sanitation’s Hired Truck scandal.
